The Islamic Movement of Nigeria IMN, otherwise known as Shiites hold protest in wuse market Abuja on 24th of July 2019.

The Shiites have been advocating the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who has been detained since 2015 after a clash between the sect and officers of the Nigerian Army.

There have therefore been clamours from groups, both locally and internationally that the Federal Government should negotiate with the group.

Others have advised the government to release El-Zakzaky and other detainees of the Federal government.

It was the help of the Nigerian forces like civil defence, police and soldiers that helped to calm the situation

Indications shows that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had begun negotiating with  shiites

On Monday, during a protest in Abuja the group shot dead a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Umar Usman. and a corp member, Precious Owolabi serving with the Channels Television, who was out on the field to report the event.
